The owner of Canary Lane had joined a mastermind group we founded in Chicago. She was already tremendously successful — a design media darling who had just secured a contract with Anthropologie. After our group concluded, we decided to continue working together. We did one initial round of work to refresh her logo and refine her color palette. The original logomark featured a graphic Turkish rug that lacked warmth so we softened it into an illustration. We also swapped her iconic pink — an extremely saturated neon magenta that could overwhelm screens and dominate palettes — for a softer, more refined pink that felt premium, converted better to print, and positioned the brand as cultivated rather than trendy.

When new major opportunities arose, we took the opportunity to complete a Brand Refresh. With Brand Strategy we set about affirming core values, analyzing the competitive landscape, detailing client personas, and updating positioning. We crystallized her "funky luxe" voice — bold, adventurous, cultivated, refined.

For Brand Identity, we designed the crest logo she'd always wanted, drawing from her new property in Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. We incorporated magnolia flowers and Virginia Pine cones with a slightly hand-drawn quality. We also illustrated her barn for future creative endeavors utilizing the farm. We developed a complete system including a bold color palette, typography, and logo suite. Finally, we provided Web Design direction she could implement on Shopify.
